Show Your Pride

Reclaim Your Power & Community

June is the month of LGBTQIA+ Pride and it is a time to celebrate who you are. It’s a time to express yourself, embrace your true colors, and show the world that you are proud of who you are inside and out. It is a time to reclaim your power and your community as we all face the difficult task of unlearning oppressive bias against ourselves and others.

In our community we connect with others through the universally human act of movement, performance art, and dance. It’s time to show off your moves and let your body groove to the music! It feels good to embody our pride and celebrate our extraordinary diversity together.

Take Pride In Your Diversity

Diversity is an essential ingredient for any team, community, or society to be successful. It is the cornerstone of progress, accountability and healthy debate. When teams are diverse, everyone brings unique perspectives to the table which helps in dismantling oppressive systems and finding solutions that work for everyone.

Diversity in teams also encourages collaboration and creativity. It allows individuals from different backgrounds to come together, learn from each other and build something greater than any one person could do on their own.

By embracing diversity in our teams, we can create a strong foundation for progress and success. We can make sure that everyone’s voice is heard, that all perspectives are taken into account and that no one is left behind.

Self Acceptance as a Radical Act

To ensure no one is left behind, we must begin with deep healing, and healing can only begin when we accept where we are in this very moment. This form of acceptance is truly a radical act as it opposes the fundamental nature of the systems that prime us to hate. Hate our bodies, hate our imperfections, hate and blame others for our pain etc. Radical self-acceptance is about embracing yourself exactly as you are in this moment and loving who you are. It’s about learning to love your body, express yourself - whether through dance, sport or any other physical activity - and sharing your true self with the world.
